Mirages - Louise Ward Morris

  • Tangent Projects Carrer Marti Codolar 41-43 L'Hospitalet de Llobregat Spain (map)

13th of November - 18th of December, opening Friday 13th of November, from 7pm

Inspired by one of the most beguiling visual phenomena, Mirages investigates light as both a source of knowledge and illusion. The multichannel video installations explore Vilém Flusser's premise that the distinction between reality and its digital representations is becoming increasingly unstable and draws on scientific research into light and optoelectronics. By considering the screen as the technological counterpart to the mirage, Mirages asks what it means for something to be materially present yet appear as something else and whether our observable world has ever been as tangible as we think.

Louise Ward Morris is a British sculptor specialising in new media who lives and works in Barcelona.

Her practice combines diverse interests in electronics, phenomenology and science to explore how technology makes us human. She reinterprets everyday technology to critically address digital culture and technological development, and she regularly collaborates with scientists and researchers on her projects.
