Tsering Frykman-Glen
Tsering is the founding director of Tangent Projects.
She is a highly experienced curator with over 20 years of experience working in alternative and independent artspaces, projects, and galleries. British but based in Barcelona, Tsering has gained recognition as a highly-skilled curator due to her collaborations with numerous talented artists on a wide variety of exciting projects throughout her career.
Tsering was the New Media Director of Phatspace Gallery in Sydney between 2004 - 2006. After returning to London she co-founded The Spare Room, a one-year curatorial project that brought art into non-gallery spaces (2008).
On moving to Barcelona she set up the purely internet-based arts curation project Remote (2011 – 2013), inviting artists, creatives and curators to create online exhibitions, which was very much unexplored exhibition territory at that time.
Tsering co-founded Tangent Projects in 2015, which for 3 years was an itinerant curatorial project before it became a cultural association and independent artspace in early 2019. As the founding director and curator of Tangent Projects, Tsering oversees the small project-based gallery, seven artist studios and the residency programmes. It is based in the L'Hospitalet de Llobregat area of Barcelona. Since 2025 she has taken a step back from curating for Tangent Projects gallery and has taken on a more “at large” role within the association.
In 2021, Tsering started working on the Reading Room - an ongoing collaborative project that brings together creatives and audiences to share texts and be part of a mutual, collective experience. You can read more about it here.
In late 2023 she founded Confluence, a site responsive project looking at transitional in-between spaces as places where we gather, mingle, and flow on. Click here to read more.
During 2025, the Reading Room and Confluence merged and took up residence in nun, a cultural cafe in Barcelona, where activations led by Tsering and Lucia Retamar took place approximately every 2 months. At the end of the year they travelled to the Fire Station Artist Space and Studios in Dublin, for a reading by Sorcha McNamara.
During her career, Tsering has been fortunate enough to work on many exciting projects with many interesting artists including Tau Luna Acosta, Daniel Boyd, Hannah Brown, Robert Cervera, Eli Cortiñas, Ely Daou, Kuba Dorabialski, Patricia Encarnación, Brian Fuata, Christine de la Garenne, Sadia Pineda Hameed, Margherita Isola, Soda_Jerk, Christopher Kline, Jamsen Law, Agnes Essonti Luque, Irma Marco, Guille Mena, Kiara Mohamed, Maria Monegro, Mercè Jara Muns, Lizette Nin, Marc O'Callaghan, Katy B Plummer, Provmyza, Frances Richardson, Lucía Egaña Rojas, Marina Rubio, Mark Shorter, Lolo & Sosaku, Raechel Teitelbaum, The Telepathy Project, Kate Terry and Tanya Zommer among many others.
