Deferred Space/Espacio en diferido - Juan David Galindo

The project Deferred Space is a video installation made up of closed circuits of webcams and screens. It explores the mediation of interconnected screens, reviewing the way in which individuals relate to their impulses, their own image and the experience of space.

Juan David Galindo has a degree in Arts and Design from Escola Massana, Barcelona. He attended the Independent Studies Program at MACBA (2017-2018), and is currently a resident artist at Hangar Centre for Art Research and Production until 2023.

There are thousands of Juanes in the world and he signs as Un Juan. Through his artistic projects Juan David investigates the models of subjectivation that deform, discipline, limit and empower the self. These projects are materialised through archive, video and performance. He delves into the construction of subjectivity, starting from what shapes the self beyond identity and biography.

This will be Juan David's 3rd solo exhibition, his previous were -  Sea Steading, curated by Gisela Chillida at Aurora Galeria in Barcelona and NowHere or in the middle of the ocean at Kvaka 22, curated by Goran Rister in Belgrade (Serbia), both in 2019.

Juan David has shown exhibited in group exhibitions, performances and screenings in different spaces such as - Instituto Cervantes in Dúblin, El Centre d'Art Contemporain Le Lait in Albi,  La Galerie Lisi Hämmerle in Bregenz, CityArt in Milan, El Museo de Arte Moderno and El Parche, both in Bogotá, El centre d'Art Maristany in Sant Cugat, Las Cigarreras in Alicante, and in Barcelona at Fabra i Coats Centre D'Art Contemporani, El Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria, Sala D'art Jove, Blueproject Foundation, àngels barcelona gallery, Castillo de Montjuic, Sala Hiroshima, and CCCB.  

Juan David has held art workshops at MACBA, Can Felipa and La Escocesa.
