Jorge Sánchez

During Jorge Sánchez’s residency at Tangent Projects studios in early 2021, Jorge worked on his upcoming book Ojos de loca. This beautiful numbered and signed edition is a print of an original Polaroid of Camilo Godoy from that book. It is being sold exclusively through the Tangent Projects online shop. Jorge Sánchez is a Puerto Rican artist and writer.

In this series of digital prints on paper, the artist documents friends and lovers linked to the Caribbean Sea. The series includes Mexican painter Aliza Nisenbaum, Cuban performance artist Carlos Martiel, Colombian visual artist Camilo Godoy, and Haitian painter Andy Robert, among others. The series is based on the celebration of possibilities and potentialities of queer/cuir diasporic ties which are based on ephemeral and sexually dissident affects.

Jorge obtained a scholarship from MACBA to participate in the Independent Studies Program (PEI) in 2019. Her writings have been published in La Revista del Instituto de Cultura de Puerto Rico, Anomaly Journal in its edition 'Radical: Avant Garde Poets of Color', the Queens Museum, Journal of New Jersey Poets, among others. He assisted artist Camilo Godoy in editing and publishing 'Reté' for SP Arte 2018  in São Paulo, Brazil which included artists like Yvonne Rainer, Carlos Martiel, Vivian Crockett, Tania Bruguera, Patricia Hoffbauer, Carlos Motta, Jonathas de Andrade, among others. In 2019, she managed the creative studio of the visual and political artist Tania Bruguera. He is a member of the artistic collectives 'queer-crisis' and 'undetectable,' both facilitated by Avram Finkelstein, artist of the collective 'ACT UP' and 'Gran Fury.'
