Body Impressions is a happening imagined and carried out by artist elisa ortega montilla and curator and researcher Javiera Luisina Cádiz Bedini, along with photography by Luiza Fagá. In two parts, an activation followed by an event, it is a project composed of a series of small hand-carved abstract wooden sculptures, and a space for photography.
The audiences will be guided to interact with elisa's sculptures so they can hold, hug, and adapt them to their bodies. In the first part these interactions will be photographed, and in the second, the photographs will be shown and the audience will again be invited to interact with the sculptures. Thereby exploring the intricate relationship between individuals, space, movement, and corporeal existence, ideas which remain particularly relevant in today's global landscape of social estrangement and territorial disputes. The event will be accompanied by a reading of sections of the curatorial text.

"Finger Machine/interactive-performance version" is an interactive performance by Dimitra Stavropoulou.
During which, the body becomes an automated machine - alternating movements that leave their footprints on paper while at the same time creating a sound environment. The Finger Machine consists of human hands with bicycle tubes and ink.
Dimitra is one of our studio residency artists for Winter/Spring 2024.

Body Impressions (Impresiones Corporales)
Body Impressions es un happening imaginado y realizado por la artista elisa ortega montilla y la curadora e investigadora Javiera Luisina Cádiz Bedini, con fotografías de Luiza Fagá. Dividida en dos partes, una activación seguida de un evento, este es un proyecto compuesto por una serie de pequeñas esculturas abstractas de madera talladas a mano y un espacio para la fotografía.
Se guiará al público para que interactúe con las esculturas de elisa; que puedan sostenerlas, abrazarlas y adaptarlas a sus cuerpos. En la primera parte estas interacciones se fotografiarán, y en la segunda parte se mostrarán las fotografías y se invitará nuevamente al público a interactuar con las esculturas, explorando así la intrincada relación entre los individuos, el espacio, el movimiento y la existencia corporal, ideas que siguen siendo particularmente relevantes en el panorama global actual de distanciamiento social y disputas territoriales. El evento será acompañado de una lectura pública de secciones del texto curatorial del proyecto.

Durante la misma, el cuerpo se convierte en una máquina automatizada, alternando movimientos que dejan huellas en el papel mientras que, al mismo tiempo, generan un entorno sonoro. The Finger Machine consiste en manos humanas con tubos de bicicleta y tinta.
Dimitra es una de nuestras artistas en residencia de la temporada invierno/primavera 2024.
